Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements
Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.
Certified - Neonatal Neuro-Intensive Care
NCC multidisciplinary subspecialty certification for licensed health care professionals caring for neurologically at-risk or impaired neonates in intensive care.
Licensing authority: National Certification Corporation
Initial by examination
- Certification
- Passing this examination confers use of C-NNIC; the individual certification date is the date on the official passed score-report letter, not this investigation date. This certification confers no state licensing authority.
- Eligibility
- All eligibility criteria must be met when applying: current, active, unencumbered U.S. or Canadian licensure as a physician (MD/DO), registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse (NNP, CNS), physician assistant, respiratory therapist, or neonatal therapist (OT, PT, SLP). Upload the license or official verification with name, license number, state/province, license type and expiration date.
- Experience
- No practice experience is required; at least one year is recommended. No separate education prerequisite is stated for this subspecialty in the current eligibility criteria; the listed professional licensure remains required.
- Registration
- Online application on demand; no application deadline. NCC determines eligibility and issues a personal 90-day testing window. Schedule within its first 30 days for a test within that window, with at least four business days between scheduling and testing. C-NNIC is offered at test centers only; generic remote-proctoring boilerplate does not override its explicit exclusion.
