SAS Certified Specialist: Forecasting and Optimization Using SAS Viya

SAS specialist certification in forecasting and optimization using SAS Viya, covering data visualization, pipeline modeling, hierarchical forecasting, post-forecasting functionality and optimization; the credential expires after five years.

Licensing authority: SAS Institute Inc. · Application information

Initial by examination
Assessment
Pass the A00-407 examination based on SAS Viya 4.0 with a score of at least 68%.
Credential Duration
Certification expires five years after award; this relative duration does not establish an absolute credential or examination-version validThrough date.
Eligibility
Individual certification candidate; accept the SAS Institute Inc. Certification Program Candidate Agreement and comply with its candidate-conduct and certification conditions. The specific credential page identifies only A00-407 and states no additional prerequisite examination; do not apply unrelated Advanced Programming prerequisites from the general FAQ.
Initial Retakes
Up to five attempts in a 12-month period, at least 14 days apart; attempts ordinarily incur a fee, subject to the current conditional Global Retake Offer linked by SAS. The offer permits one free retake per participating exam program for the same examination after a qualifying failed first attempt. Candidates must be at least 18, opt in, register, enter the emailed promo code, pay full price for the first attempt and take the examination during the published Offer Period, September 29, 2026 at 12:01 AM through November 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM local time. The detailed terms additionally require initial attempts to be completed 'prior to November 17, 2026' and rescheduled initial attempts 'before November 17, 2026'; preserve those specific earlier-completion restrictions rather than promising eligibility for a November 17 first attempt. The free second attempt must be taken January 4-April 7, 2027, with ordinary SAS retake and rescheduling policies still applicable. Candidates already holding an appointment must opt in and follow the confirmation email, which may require cancellation and rescheduling. SAS participates, but candidates in China, India and Taiwan are excluded. The offer cannot be combined with other offers or promotions, applies only to attempted and failed exams, excludes terminated or revoked sessions, is non-transferable and cannot be resold; violation invalidates it, it is void where prohibited, and Pearson may modify or cancel it. These age, payment, location and date restrictions govern promotion eligibility rather than general SAS certification eligibility. This is an initial-examination promotion active at the evaluation date; the 2027 retake window does not create a future exam version or an absolute route validity boundary. After passing, no additional initial-qualification attempt; credential renewal and expiry-related retake exceptions remain outside this route.
Payment
Standard listed examination fee is USD 180; payments are made to Pearson at registration. Academic-discount applicants must request their voucher before exam registration; voucher conditions do not create general eligibility prerequisites.
Scheduling
Create or use a SAS Certification Portal account and schedule an individual examination appointment through the Pearson VUE partnership; appointment availability governs scheduling, not a cohort application deadline. Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours beforehand to avoid fee forfeiture, including a no-show.
