Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements
Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.
SAFe Architect
Licensing authority: Scaled Agile, Inc.
Initial by examination
- Access
- The included first attempt must be used within 60 days of course completion; the account time-zone deadline is 11:59 PM. Complete the exam before the window expires because results will not be saved if it expires mid-exam. Extensions are not offered; purchase a retake if the window is missed. These are personal access windows, not examination-version validThrough dates.
- Account And Seat
- Register for the related course, use the learner's SAFe Studio account and Learning Plans & Exams, and obtain instructor confirmation of attendance before launching the exam. Accept the Candidate Agreement, pay applicable fees, give accurate registration information and take the exam as the registered individual.
- Applicability
- Current official ARCH 6.0 English guide, current certification page and current General Exam FAQs jointly establish this version's initial route at evaluationDate 2026-10-28. Official onset and retirement boundaries for this version, credential and route are unpublished in the researched materials and remain null. SAFe 5 retired exams are excluded. No announced retirement before 2027-03-01 was found; the required three-month cutoff is 2027-01-28. Course completion timing controls an individual's exam window during the requested 2026-11-25 through 2027-01-31 horizon; no unrestricted future seat guarantee is asserted.
- Assessment
- One web-based closed-book multiple-choice, single-select examination scored by correct answers; unanswered questions count incorrect. The timed exam must be taken in one sitting and cannot be paused. No independent practical, writing or oral examination is specified for this certification route. Practice tests and course activities are preparation rather than additional separately scored examinations.
- Award And Renewal
- Passing awards the individual's SAFe Architect certification, certificate and badge; the course completion certificate is distinct. The certification page states yearly renewal. Active-holder AI-Native upgrade plans and their quizzes are outside this initial-examination route and do not extend certification expiration dates.
- Eligibility
- Attend and complete the entire related three-day instructor-led SAFe for Architects course, offered remotely or in person. The official course FAQ states no course prerequisites; experience descriptions identify the intended audience, not a separate prerequisite certification. The general candidate agreement allows proctored purchase OR course completion where offered, but current General Exam FAQs explicitly limit course-free proctored purchase to SA, SP, SSM, POPM and AIN-F, so ARCH requires the course.
- Language
- This delivery is English only. Exam eligibility is based on the language of the completed course; another examination language requires the corresponding-language course.
- Retakes
- Additional attempts cost $50. First retake is immediately available after the initial failure; second retake after 10 days; third after 30 days; subsequent retakes require a 30-day wait. Purchased retakes expire 60 days after purchase. Active renewal is not required to purchase a retake. A passed exam cannot be retaken under the current agreement.
