Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

RISC-V Foundational Associate (RVFA)

Individual entry-level professional certification demonstrating foundational RISC-V hardware and software knowledge, awarded upon passing the RVFA examination; holder certification is valid for two years.

Licensing authority: Linux Foundation

Initial by examination
Applicability
The current live RVFA page adopts the current multiple-choice FAQ/instructions and links the exam-to-award guide. No explicit program or examination-version start or retirement boundary was found in the examined current sources and targeted official retirement searches; date boundaries remain null, not the research date.
Candidate Eligibility
Certification is for natural persons; candidates under 16 are ineligible. Candidates aged 16-18 must meet the published parental-release, student-ID and guardian-check-in requirements. Government-issued ID, applicable candidate agreement, testing-environment and system rules, and US-sanctions restrictions apply.
Delivery Window
Remote scheduling is by country/time zone and available PSI timeslots, up to 90 days ahead with a 24-hour lead time. The requested 2026-11-25 through 2027-02-01 window is subject to eligibility and actual seat availability; its far end exceeds the booking horizon on the evaluation date. No individual seat is verified or guaranteed.

Examination
Pass the single RVFA examination in English; no alternative examination or additional practical assessment is prescribed by the current program materials.
Prerequisites
No technical or course prerequisites; the listed familiarity, coursework and learning-path courses are preparation advice only.
Registration
Purchase/register through the official product page and LF account, then schedule separately with PSI; sit within 12 months of registration or before corporate-subscription expiry, whichever occurs first.
