PCEP™ – Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer

An entry-level professional certification measuring essential Python programming skills.

Licensing authority: OpenEDG Python Institute · Application information

Initial by examination
Age Eligibility
Under 13: no testing or certification, even with consent. Ages 13–17: testing and certification after passing require parental or legal guardian consent. Ages 18 and above: no age-related certification restriction. OpenEDG may impose additional restrictions to comply with local data protection laws.
Credential Validity
The credential is valid for five years; that award-relative duration is not a calendar end date for the credential scheme or examination version.
Delivery
Worldwide proctored delivery, including the US, through OpenEDG Online Proctoring Service by default; authorized educational/testing partners provide a separate local proctored delivery mode.
Failed Attempt
A failed PCEP attempt has a seven-day retake waiting period; a new voucher may be required and the number of failed-exam retakes is not limited.
Passing
At least 70% cumulative average across all four examination blocks. The immediate score is preliminary; the session must pass final verification for certification.
Prerequisites
None; preparation courses and higher-level associated certifications are not prerequisite examinations.
Registration
Create or activate a Test Candidate account, obtain a valid PCEP exam voucher, enter it in TestNow, pass diagnostics and check-in, and accept the Code of Conduct, NDA, and Testing Policies. Purchased vouchers are valid for at least 90 days and must be used before their expiry. This investigation did not create an account or purchase a voucher.
Scheduling
Global online sessions are on demand and need not be scheduled in advance; registration and testing may occur the same day. An unredeemed unexpired voucher can be used later. Local partner sessions require proctor authorization and appointments; contact the provider at least 24 hours before an appointment to reschedule.
Version Applicability
PCEP-30-02 is explicitly current at the evaluation date. PCEP-30-03 is pending release on October 31, 2026 and is excluded. The announcement does not supply an explicit PCEP-30-02 retirement date; calendar validity boundaries remain null. No historical, renewal, or other certification route is investigated.
