Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

Licensed psychology associate

Master’s-level independent psychology license created by 85 Del. Laws, c. 317, effective June 24, 2026; implementation follows §25. It is distinct from a licensed psychologist and excludes the specialty assessments in §3508B(e)(2).

Licensing authority: Delaware Board of Examiners of Psychologists

Licensed psychology associate by reciprocity — approved credential bank
Board credential description
The Board FAQ states: "There are two levels of licensure in Delaware. The Psychologist license requires a doctoral degree and experience. The registered Psychological Assistant license requires a doctoral degree and 450-hour internship but no experience." That older implementation description does not override the enacted associate and master’s-level assistant provisions.
Credential
Submit a certificate of professional qualification from a Board-approved credential bank under §3511(c), in lieu of the documentation in §3511(a) and (b); the Board may request supplemental information.
Eligibility
This statutory alternative applies only to an applicant actually able to obtain a qualifying Board-approved certificate; it does not assert that a master’s-level applicant qualifies for a doctoral-level ASPPB CPQ or National Register credential.
Exam documentation
The certificate replaces documentation of reciprocity qualifications, including the EPPP score; the EPPP remains the currently offered examination identified in the statutory route.
Statutory implementation
85 Del. Laws, c. 317 §25 takes effect on enactment (June 24, 2026), with implementation at the earlier of twelve months after enactment or the Board notice in the Register of Regulations that final implementing regulations have been adopted. This route records the enacted statutory requirements, not an assertion that a new DELPROS application type has opened.

Criminal history
Supply fingerprints for Delaware SBI and FBI criminal-history checks; a substantially related conviction bars licensure unless the statutory waiver is granted.
Education
Master’s degree in psychology from an APA, CPA, PCSAS or equivalent Board-approved program; foreign training requires a NACES-approved equivalency evaluation.
Exam administration
The statute expressly requires the ASPPB EPPP. The Board examination page supplies the current registration process; the newly authorized credential’s implementation remains subject to §25.
Experience
At least two years of satisfactory supervised professional psychological experience after receipt of the master’s degree.
Internship
Complete an internship meeting Board rules.
Professional conduct
Disciplinary acts and unresolved complaints or disciplinary proceedings must be disclosed and resolved under Chapter 35.
