Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

PECB Certified U.S. Data Privacy Officer

PECB individual certification under its ISO/IEC 17024 U.S. Data Privacy Officer scheme; the non-provisional award requires the accepted examination, relevant professional and project experience, and the Code of Ethics.

Licensing authority: PECB Group Pte. Ltd.

Initial by examination
Application
Passing permits application, subject to Certification Department validation of all award requirements; it does not confer the award automatically. The handbook states a 12-month post-course/purchase application window and written paid reopening subject to changed conditions after closure.
Award Boundary
Non-provisional PECB Certified U.S. Data Privacy Officer only; the Provisional designation uses the same examination but is not separately submitted.
Booking
Online via PECB Exams application/myPECB, selecting English and an actual available session and seat; partner-arranged paper delivery is the same exam. No guaranteed seat for the requested horizon is asserted.
Course Benefit Window
For PECB Partner training, eLearning or self-study: first exam attempt, one free retake, certification application and first AMF year are included; complete the cycle within 12 months of instructor-led course completion or self-study/eLearning purchase. This is not an exam-version expiry.
Ethics
Signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
Exam Equivalence
An equivalent examination accepted by PECB may satisfy the requirement after PECB's individual equivalence evaluation of another recognized accredited body's exam. No named alternative exam or automatic waiver is stated; no additional exam identity or no_exam branch is invented.
Professional Experience
Five years, including two years of work experience in U.S. privacy laws and regulations.
Project Experience
A total of 300 hours of project activities following best implementation and management practices: maintaining a compliant privacy policy; mechanisms for rights to know, delete, correct and opt out; governing service-provider/contractor/disclosure contracts; necessary and proportionate data practices; privacy risk assessments and automated decision-making oversight; cybersecurity programs and required audits; workforce privacy training and compliance records.
References
Two professional references who have worked with the applicant and can validate expertise and work history; neither subordinates nor relatives.
Training
No specific training course or curriculum is mandatory for this professional scheme; the Foundation program exception does not apply. Candidates may sit without training.
