PECB Certified Chief Information Security Officer

Licensing authority: PECB

Initial by examination
Applicability
The current program page and current English directory entry adopt the retrieved handbook. No official start or end date for this award, route or examination version is assigned from the research date or document metadata. The 2027-01-27 production-horizon screen found no announced exam retirement boundary.
Award Maintenance
Individual certifications are valid for three years and require the applicable CPD and annual maintenance fee; this holder-specific validity does not limit or extend examination availability.
Award Requirements
Pass the PECB Chief Information Security Officer exam; five years of professional experience including two years of work experience in information security; 300 hours of information-security project activities; sign the PECB Code of Ethics; submit and obtain approval of the certification application.
Equivalence
The handbook permits an equivalent accepted by PECB and evaluates certifications/exams from recognized accredited bodies through its equivalence process; this is an individual acceptance condition, not an identified additional examination, a universal waiver, or a no-exam finding. No named prerequisite or second examination is specified for this route.
Exam Result And Application
Online multiple-choice results are immediate. The Certification Department validates eligibility before issuing the certificate/digital badge. If no certification application is made within one year, the case closes and reopening is subject to PECB's current requirements and fee.
Online Requirements
Remote invigilation through the PECB Exams application and a camera; valid identity documentation; be present at least 30 minutes before the start; agree to PECB exam rules and the online examinee manual.
Professional References
Two professional references who worked with the candidate and can validate the relevant experience/work history; relatives and persons under the candidate's supervision are not valid references.
Retakes
A first retake requires waiting 15 days after the initial attempt; the handbook specifies no overall retake-number limit. Partner-trained candidates have a first attempt and one free retake within the handbook's 12-month coupon period; that period is not an examination-version expiry date.
Scheduling
Use an authorized partner or remote PECB Exams session. Select English and an available date/seat; partner-arranged sessions require organizer confirmation. Scheduling after training depends on course completion/account status. New online sessions are published bi-weekly; no particular date or seat in 2026-11-25 through 2027-02-28 is guaranteed.
Training
Attendance at a PECB training course is not required for eligibility to sit the exam. Training exercises and course-completion attestations do not create another credential examination. The course has a fundamental information-security knowledge prerequisite; it is not an official examination-sitting prerequisite.
