Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

PCAP™ – Certified Associate Python Programmer

An associate-level Python programming certification earned by passing the PCAP examination; it validates intermediate programming and object-oriented skills and is valid for five years.

Licensing authority: Python Institute

Initial by examination
Admission
Delivery-specific identification, technical/environment requirements and proctor verification apply. TestNow local facilities require arrival 15 minutes early and personal ID; Pearson VUE centers require arrival 15 minutes early and two valid original IDs, including government photo ID, matching the registered name. OnVUE requires application-based identity and workspace checks.
Age
Under the PCAP TestNow policy, children under 13 cannot test or receive certification; ages 13–17 require parental or guardian consent; adults have no age-related restrictions, subject to applicable local data-protection restrictions.
Award
Passing the required examination earns the certification; TestNow results are final for certification only after session verification. Practice tests and higher-level certifications are outside this route.
Credential Validity
Five years from earning the credential; unpublished calendar start/end boundaries for this credential entity and route remain null.
Current Version
PCAP-31-03 is active at evaluationDate. PCAP-31-04 is pending release on October 31, 2026 and excluded from this current initial route; the announcement does not supply a retirement date for PCAP-31-03.
Eligibility
No formal prerequisites; PCEP certification is recommended, not required. Training courses and neighboring certifications are not additional examination requirements for this route.
Rescheduling And Retakes
Pearson VUE changes/cancellation require at least 24 hours notice within the authorized delivery period; late cancellation/no-show forfeits fees. A failed PCAP exam has a 15-day retake waiting period and may require another voucher; Pearson VUE prohibits retaking an already-passed version. TestNow's PCAP-specific 15-day policy controls over its generic Additional Information wording about usually seven days.
Scheduling
Rolling appointments rather than a fixed application window. Pearson VUE appointments require at least one full business day (24 hours) advance scheduling; OnVUE is available 24/7 year-round subject to maintenance, and physical-center availability varies. TestNow global candidates use a candidate account and an unexpired voucher, complete check-in, agree to the Code of Conduct, NDA and Testing Policies; an unredeemed global voucher can be used later without rescheduling. Local TestNow partner examinations require proctor authorization; changes through the facility require at least 24 hours notice.
