Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Certified Nurse (TCTCN™)

National specialty nursing certification for registered nurses practicing in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation or cellular therapy.

Licensing authority: Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation · Application information

Initial by examination
Eligibility
All criteria apply at application and examination: current active unencumbered RN license in the US, its territories, or Canada; at least 24 months of RN experience in the preceding 48 months; at least 2,000 hours of HSCT or cellular therapy nursing practice in the preceding 48 months; and at least 10 relevant continuing-education contact hours or a relevant academic elective in the preceding 36 months. Hours must have an acceptable accredited CNE/NCPD provider or approver; at most five of ten hours may be accredited CME/CPE in the specialty. Joint Accreditation/IPCE hours must specify ANCC, ACCME, or ACPE credit.
Licensure Interpretation
Unencumbered means no current formal board discipline or provisions/conditions limiting practice. The general policy provides an equivalency condition for nurses educated and/or licensed outside the United States, its territories, or Canada: education and licensure must be evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service and indicate U.S. equivalency before application. This is an applicant-qualification condition, not another examination dependency.
Practice
Direct or indirect clinical practice, nursing administration, education, research, or consultation must be in a position requiring an RN/APRN, including a role open to other licensed providers when RN/APRN is among those eligible.
Scope
Initial qualification by examination only; RN licensure is an applicant qualification and is not an additional TCTCN examination leaf. No state licensure route or renewal route is registered.
