NICET certification at Level I in Construction Materials Testing – Concrete
NICET Level I certification for technicians testing and inspecting concrete construction materials, requiring the Level I knowledge examination, qualifying experience and supervisor performance verification.
Licensing authority: National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies · Application information
Initial by examination
- Administrative Limit
- The legacy Applying for NICET Certification booklet link returned HTTP 404 on all local fetch backends and was not retrieved through server-side access; official-title search returned current portal instructions and the current official program/procedure/scheduling pages independently establish the facts delivered here. No fact is attributed to the unavailable booklet.
- Applicability
- Current official program, requirements, conditions and currently linked Level I outline/reference list support this investigation. Printed outline/list dates identify documents, not official examination effective dates; all unpublished validity boundaries remain null.
- Application And Scheduling
- Current program instructions require electronic application in the NICET portal. Agree to the affidavit and confirm exam/payment selection to receive NICET authorization; schedule and complete confirmation through Pearson VUE within the selected three-month window. Level I may be taken in person or remotely; OnVUE is limited to individuals residing/living in the United States and requires its technical, identity, workspace and monitoring policies. NDA acceptance is required before the examination.
- Certification Requirements
- Pass the Concrete Level I exam; document at least six months full-time-equivalent direct construction-materials-testing involvement, including at least three months full-time testing concrete mixes and components. Up to three months may be in soils, asphalt and/or other related construction materials testing.
- Experience Timing
- Experience application may be submitted before, after or with the testing application; certification is awarded only after all requirements are met. The six-month experience requirement is an award requirement, not an asserted prerequisite to scheduling the exam.
- Other Level IConditions
- Personal recommendation and major project are not required in the Level I column. Optional hands-on performance examinations are excluded from the examination dependency and knowledge-bank scope.
- Performance Verification
- Supervisor verification of the Level I Performance Measures: all 18 Group A activities (0208-1101 through 0208-1118), including attendance at safety training, and at least eight of the 19 Group B activities (0208-1119 through 0208-1137). This is workplace performance verification, not a separately required hands-on examination.
- Training
- NICET does not require or endorse any particular books, training or education program for certification; the Level I workplace performance measure requiring safety-training attendance remains required.
