NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring Subspecialty Certification

NCC national subspecialty certification validating electronic fetal monitoring knowledge and its application to inpatient and outpatient obstetrical care; it confers no practice licensing authority.

Licensing authority: National Certification Corporation · Application information

Initial by examination
Application And Scheduling
Applications are online and on demand, with no fixed deadline. Review takes 1–14 days. Each eligible applicant receives a personal 90-day testing window in the eligibility letter; schedule within its first 30 days and take the exam within that window. Scheduling is available only after eligibility notification, first come first served, through the NCC account/PSI. Computer test centers require at least four business days between scheduling and testing; the current testing guide specifies two business days for live remote proctoring. Test-center or live remote delivery leads to the same examination result.
Certification Award
Successful completion entitles the applicant to use C-EFM. Certification begins on the date of the official passing NCC score-report letter and is awarded for three years; this individual award rule is not a published catalog or route effective date.
Date Applicability
The live NCC exam page currently adopts the retrieved 2026 guide and catalog. No explicit start or retirement boundary for the examination content, certification program or route is published in these materials; validFrom and validThrough remain null rather than using retrieval dates or publication years.
Eligibility
All eligibility criteria must be met at application. Current, active, unencumbered US or Canadian licensure as a physician, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife or midwife, physician assistant or paramedic; upload the license or verification showing name, license number, licensing state/province, license type and expiration date.
Evidence Claim Ids
["efm-authority-20261024","efm-route-20261024","efm-registration-20261024"]
Initial Scope
For first-time certification, not maintenance. This task covers the US national certification and does not establish state licensure or a Canadian credential route.
Supervised Trainee Alternative
Interns, residents and fellows without a license upload a hospital-letterhead letter from their supervising physician or residency program director instead of the license. It must identify the applicant, contain the physician's license number and expiration date, and bear the physician's signature; the application licensing information must still be completed.
