HVAC Support Technician Certificate

NATE entry-level certificate for early-career HVAC technicians, earned by passing the proctored HVAC Support Technician examination; it is a certificate rather than NATE professional certification. Current awards are valid for five years.

Licensing authority: North American Technician Excellence

Initial by examination
Accommodations
The linked handbook requires a Request for Non-Standard Test Accommodations at least 45 days before the scheduled test; translators are not permitted in remote LOP sessions.
Assessment
Pass the independent proctored HVAC Support Technician examination. No separate practical, oral, Core or Specialty examination is identified as required for this entry-level certificate; professional NATE certification is a separate object.
Conduct
Sign the NATE Code of Conduct before testing. Photo identification is required. Paper candidates sign the exam agreement/answer card after completion.
Eligibility
Formal education is not required. Formal training and six months to one year of HVAC experience are recommended; the KATE describes the early-career audience rather than an enforceable experience prerequisite.
Registration
Arrange an in-person session with a NATE Testing Organization or purchase and schedule the English exam using the myNATE Live Online Proctoring section. Remote appointment scheduling follows payment; current price is available in the account and is not invented here.
Remote Testing
Meazure Learning ProctorU provides remote delivery. A private, quiet room, room scan, compatible computer, webcam, microphone, speakers, internet and Guardian Browser are required; tablets/Chromebooks and multiple monitors are not permitted. Government-issued nonexpired signed photo ID is required. Remote calculator must be the built-in software calculator; two blank scratch sheets and a writing utensil are allowed. No restroom break, talking/reading questions aloud, other people/pets, outside materials or translation services are permitted.
Validity
The current certificate page explicitly establishes five-year validity beginning in July 2023, superseding the linked handbook's older no-expiration statement for current awards. This term is a recipient credential duration, not the official start or end date of the examination version or catalog entity.
