Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

Licensed Massage Therapist

Ordinary Montana massage therapist license. MCA 37-33-601 is expressly contingent; the compact administrator describes multistate applications as future, as early as 2027, so an operational multistate credential is not included on this evaluation date. The thin warnings on 37-33-501 and 37-33-405 concern genuinely short statute pages: their complete operative provisions were obtained and read. MCA 37-33-404 provides scoped exemptions, including continuing-education instructors and supervised students in school-sanctioned activities; these are not separate Board-issued licenses. MCA 37-1-144(5) separately permits registered out-of-state licensees to provide specified services up to 21 days without Montana licensure; that registration is not a Montana credential.

Licensing authority: Montana Board of Massage Therapy; Montana Department of Labor and Industry · Application information
