Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

Lead-Based Paint Abatement Supervisor Certification

Certification to conduct and supervise abatements and prepare occupant protection plans and abatement reports. The one-time certification examination is distinct from required training and its course tests.

Licensing authority: Arkansas Department of Health, Lead-Based Paint Program · Application information

Annual recertification

At least one of the following alternatives:

Applicability
Existing Arkansas supervisor certificate holder; the one-time examination pass is retained under the rule’s all-applicants provision, and a prior pass satisfies it. This does not require an annual retake.
Historical training exception
20 CAR § 130-403(a): an applicant initially trained before January 1, 1999 who attended annual refresher courses each following year is excused from the one-time certification exam. The exception is an applicant condition, not an additional requirement-tree leaf.
Military extension
20 CAR § 130-401(f)(4) extends a deployed service member’s or spouse’s expiration date until 180 days after return. Act 135 § 17-4-108(b) allows full or partial continuing-education exemption during that period and evidence of completion before subsequent renewal.
Other authorized exam
20 CAR § 130-402(3)(B) also accepts a supervisor exam from another EPA-authorized state or Indian Tribal program, with the issuing authority’s certification of results. Another state’s own examination is an applicant condition under this survey contract.
Practice after expiration
20 CAR § 130-407(d): no lead-based paint activities may be conducted after the certificate expires.
Renewal documents
20 CAR § 130-408(b): completed application, fees, disclosure statement and original supervisor refresher-course certificate from a licensed, EPA-approved or EPA-authorized state/tribal training provider.
Timing
20 CAR § 130-408(a): apply before the last day of the twelfth month after training.
Training
Refresher course completion, including the provider’s course test and any applicable hands-on assessment, is an applicant training condition.
Recertification after expiration within twelve months

Practice after expiration
20 CAR § 130-407(d): no lead-based paint activities may be conducted after the certificate expires.
Renewal documents
20 CAR § 130-408(b): completed application, fees, disclosure statement and original supervisor refresher-course certificate from a licensed, EPA-approved or EPA-authorized state/tribal training provider.
Timing
20 CAR § 130-408(c): an expired holder may complete the appropriate refresher course within twelve months after expiration without initial training.
Training
Refresher course completion, including the provider’s course test and any applicable hands-on assessment, is an applicant training condition.
Original certification

At least one of the following alternatives:

Documents
20 CAR § 130-401(b)(3): completed application, applicable fees, individual disclosure statement, original appropriate training certificate, education/experience affidavit, and applicable certification-exam passing certificate.
Employer
20 CAR § 130-101(g): work must be as an employee of a licensed contractor or consultant, or as an in-house employee.
Exam timing
20 CAR § 130-403: certification examination passed one time per discipline; no more than three attempts within six months after course completion; an unsuccessful applicant must retake the appropriate course before reapplying after six months.
Experience
20 CAR § 130-402(3)(D)–(E): one year of experience as a certified lead-based paint abatement worker OR at least two years in lead, asbestos, environmental remediation, or building trades.
Historical training exception
20 CAR § 130-403(a): an applicant initially trained before January 1, 1999 who attended annual refresher courses each following year is excused from the one-time certification exam. The exception is an applicant condition, not an additional requirement-tree leaf.
Military initial credit
20 CAR § 130-401(f)(3), implementing Act 137 of 2023, accepts relevant and applicable uniformed-service education, training, national certification, or service-issued credentials toward initial licensure.
Other authorized exam

Training
20 CAR § 130-402(3)(A): successful completion of an Arkansas-licensed supervisor course, an EPA-approved course, or a course under a state or tribal program authorized by EPA when taken; submit the original training certificate. Course tests and hands-on assessments are training conditions under § 130-302(b)(8), distinct from the certification examination.

No examination is required for this applicant pathway.
Applicability

Credential held
Hold occupational licensure in good standing with a similar scope of practice from another United States jurisdiction. Act 135 § 17-4-103(1) defines automatic licensure as granting licensure without meeting ordinary licensing requirements.
Fee
Pay the applicable licensure fee under 20 CAR § 130-401(f)(2)(B).
Military extension
Expiration extended until 180 days after return from deployment for the member or spouse under § 130-401(f)(4).
