Reinstatement during the first 30 days after expiration
- Continued Qualification
- ORC 3742.05(B)(1) requires continuing to meet initial qualifications under division (A), including the passing licensing examination when applicable. The current licensing examination remains a leaf under this task’s rule that prior passage counts; this does not state that every applicant must retake it.
- Expiration Window
- During the first 30 days following expiration.
- Implementation Instruction
- ODH FAQ, December 2025, Question 28 states: "28. Do I need to pass a third-party examination every two years to renew my license? No. The examination is only required for initial licensing." The February 2026 handbook instructs renewal applicants to have only a license photo taken.
- Late Fee
- Pay one and a half times the established fee ($375).
- Recognized License
- Applicants whose initial issuance was exempt under ORC 3742.05(C) or ORC 4743.041 retain their applicable issuance exception as an applicant condition.
- Refresher Training
- Successfully complete the Ohio-approved refresher within the two-year license period; a Lead Risk Assessor refresher may replace the Lead Inspector refresher. Provider course tests and hands-on assessment remain training completion conditions.
- Renewal Procedure
- Submit the renewal application, fee, refresher completion certificate and required identity documentation.
- Reporting
- Maintain work-practice compliance and required records; submit and obtain acceptance of the prior two years’ electronic monthly summaries before renewal.
- Restriction
- The license’s offense-related restrictions remain applicable; continuation is subject to ODH’s lawful restriction and discipline decisions.
- Training Deadline
- If not completed before expiration, successfully complete the refresher within 30 days after expiration; it cannot be used for the next renewal.
