Examination condition
902 KAR 48:020 Section 2(2) applies the third-party procedure to an approved applicant in a discipline requiring that examination; the incorporated individual application says, "If initial, or lapsed certification up to 6 Months, a 3rd Party exam is required". Retain the inspector examination; whether the department accepts an equivalent certificate without requiring a retest is an applicant condition under the department-determined reciprocity terms, not a separate examination alternative.

Hold a certificate in another state whose certification, education, and experience requirements are substantially equal to or greater than Kentucky requirements and which grants equal certification privileges to Kentucky certificate holders; KRS 211.9069(1). No other jurisdiction is researched in this survey.

Submit applicable certification and examination fees under 902 KAR 48:020 Sections 1, 2, and 8, subject to department-determined equivalent certification terms.
Timely individual recertification
No examination is required for this applicant pathway.
Application
Submit a completed application, applicable fees, and documentation of successful completion of an approved inspector refresher course taken during the final twelve months of the certification period. The implementation checklist additionally requests a color photograph and course certificates.
Deadline
Apply at least thirty days before the expiration date on the certificate under 902 KAR 48:020 Section 6(1).
Refresher training
Under 902 KAR 48:030 Section 9, the inspector refresher course has eight hours and includes a provider course test and relevant hands-on assessment as course-completion conditions.
