Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.
Insurance Agent License — Personal Lines Line of Authority
Individual and business-entity routes to the personal lines authority; qualifications for other unrelated major lines are outside this survey.
Licensing authority: Kentucky Department of Insurance · Application information
Reapplication after revocation
- Discipline
- Wait at least one year after revocation and again qualify under all applicable initial provisions. Two revocations permanently bar issuance.
- Qualification
- Meet initial licensing requirements; the recent-licence exemption does not cover a disciplinary revocation.
Nonresident business entity without reciprocal eligibility
- Applicant
- Business entity; submit Form 8301-BE and applicable fees. Each officer, director, or member acting as an agent must hold an individual agent license. Disclose officers and directors, designate a licensed responsible agent, and file individual designations.
- Appointment
- Maintain the applicable insurer appointments and individual designations.
- Authority
- The designated individuals must hold the same applicable property-related lines as the entity. Their individual licences are applicant conditions, not examinations attributed to the entity.
- Residence
- Nonresident business entity not eligible under KRS 304.9-140; qualify under KRS 304.9-130.

- Appointment
- Maintain the applicable insurer appointments and individual designations.
