Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

Esthetician License

License to practice esthetics. Add-On Hair Removal and Add-On Lash and Brow licenses are restricted to licensed hairstylists and nail technicians under Chapter 1 Section 6; estheticians already hold these services within their esthetics scope. Chapter 1 Section 13 expressly declines military temporary practice permits. The Board may impose individual license conditions or restrictions under Chapter 14.

Licensing authority: Wyoming State Board of Cosmetology · Application information

Licensure by endorsement based on equivalent licensure requirements
No examination is required for this applicant pathway.
Application
Submit notarized endorsement application, current license copy, official certifications, lawful-presence documentation, current photo, and $273 endorsement and license fee. Non-English records must be translated by an approved company.
Board restrictions
Any individual Board conditions or restrictions remain binding.
Current license
Hold a current qualifying professional license in another state and provide official certifications from the original licensing jurisdiction and the jurisdiction of the current valid license.
Legal basis
W.S. 33-12-132 authorizes qualifying endorsement without examination in Wyoming. General examination instructions apply when an applicant does not qualify for endorsement.
Practice
Less than one year of full-time practice; the Board must determine the original licensing requirements are at least equal to Wyoming’s.
School and exam evidence
Attend a qualifying licensed school and demonstrate that the licensing state required a Board examination. The other jurisdiction’s examination is an applicant condition, not an identifiable NIC examination leaf. The Board’s implementing materials also accept a state-approved apprenticeship program and require proof of passing a state examination given by a State Board or testing company.

Official no-examination sources

Effective from 2026-09-22.

Individual restrictions
