Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

Aesthetician License

Individual license to practice aesthetics; school instruction and specialty-school supervised training are distinct initial applicant pathways.

Licensing authority: Wisconsin Cosmetology Examining Board · Application information

Licensure by endorsement
No examination is required for this applicant pathway.
Board Training Discrepancy
The DSPS endorsement page states: "A course of instruction in cosmetology of at least 1550 training hours in not less than 10 months in a school of cosmetology licensed or exempted under Wisconsin Statute, or is accredited by an accrediting agency approved by the Board, an apprenticeship under Wisconsin Statute". The controlling endorsement statute and Cos 8.02 supply the licensing pathway; the page demand is retained as an applicant condition.
Course
Complete the Board-approved one-hour Wisconsin laws course and have the school submit the certificate directly. A course is an applicant condition, not an examination.
Disciplinary History
Wis. Stat. § 454.13(1)(a) requires no prior discipline and no pending negligence or practice-law proceeding.
Fees
Apply and pay the reciprocal credential fee.
Held License
Hold a current license in good standing in another jurisdiction to perform substantially the same services; send official license verification directly to DSPS.
