Initial by examination
Agreements
Candidates must accept the Non-Disclosure Agreement and Candidate Certification Agreement before attempting the examination.
Application
US applicants submit the current eligibility form to cciso@eccouncil.org; processing can take up to six weeks depending on verifier responses. Experience is independently verified. The self-study application fee is $100; it is waived with authorized training.
Education Waivers
{"applicability":"The current handbook describes these waivers under self-study; no additional professional-certification waiver categories are inferred from older pages.","d1":"Ph.D. Information Security: 3 years; MS Information Security Management, MS Information Security Engineering, or BS Information Security: 2 years.","d2":"Ph.D. Information Security: 3 years; MS Information Security Management, MS Information Security Engineering, or BS Information Security: 2 years.","d3":"Ph.D. Information Security: 3 years; MS Information Security or MS Project Management, or BS Information Security: 2 years.","d4":"Ph.D. Information Security: 3 years; MS Information Security or BS Information Security: 2 years.","d5":"CPA, MBA, or M. Fin.: 3 years.","maximumYearsPerDomain":3}
Eligibility
All applicants must obtain EC-Council eligibility approval and pass the full CCISO examination; experience alone does not waive it.
Experience Alternatives
["Self-study: five years of experience in each of the five CCISO domains, verified through the application process; experience across domains may overlap.","Official training: five years of experience in three of the five domains, verified through the application process.","Current Associate CCISO holders may seek full CCISO after five years in at least three domains and EC-Council experience verification; the required experience must be earned while current. Prior Associate training makes repeat training optional. A lapsed Associate must reapply under the standard process. The Associate examination is not required of candidates who directly qualify."]
Minors
Minors require written parent/legal-guardian consent and a supporting letter from a nationally accredited learning institution, under the certification division policy.
Scheduling
After approval, EC-Council provides voucher purchase instructions and a code to register and schedule the test at an EC-Council Test Center. Approval lasts three months for voucher purchase; the code is usable for one year after release. This is appointment scheduling within voucher validity, not a fixed examination window. Contact EC-Council before expiry for an extension; only a valid voucher can be extended once, and application extensions require the Director of Certification approval.
