Applicability

Experience
The global certification page requires sufficient practical experience and refers candidates to the Member Board or Exam Provider for specific criteria. The U.S. target listing states ISTQB Foundation Level Certification without a numeric CTAL-TAE experience threshold. The syllabus strongly recommends background such as six months as a test engineer or software developer and accredited training; those recommendations are not represented as mandatory fixed experience or training requirements.
Prerequisite Proof
Certificates obtained from another ISTQB board/provider must be evidenced in the AT*SQA account before the examination.
Prerequisite Qualification
Hold the ISTQB Foundation Level certificate before taking the CTAL-TAE examination; the ISTQB page accepts Foundation Level v4.0 or previous versions. This is an existing qualification prerequisite, not an instruction to retake or independently research Foundation Level.
Scheduling
Register through AT*SQA; testing center and online proctored delivery use the purchased examination code, which must be used within 365 days without extensions. Online examinations are available throughout the week 24 hours a day. Select an EXT appointment for non-native-language extra time. Request special accommodations at least one month before the examination. Reschedule online more than 24 hours and testing center more than 72 hours before the appointment; rescheduling within the fee window costs USD 90.
