Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety Subspecialty Certification

NCC subspecialty certification validating obstetric and neonatal quality and safety knowledge and its application for eligible licensed health care professionals; it carries no licensing authority.

Licensing authority: National Certification Corporation · Application information

Initial by examination
Application And Scheduling
Online applications are available without a fixed deadline and require NCC approval. Use the personal 90-day window specified in the eligibility letter; schedule within its first 30 days. Candidates schedule with PSI only after receiving eligibility. Current Guide to Testing Methods p. 3 specifies at least four business days from scheduling to test-center testing and two for live remote proctoring; the examination page's general four-day statement is read with these expressly method-specific instructions. Delivery choices are test center or live remote proctoring, not separate examinations. Remote candidates must test their computer before scheduling.
Certification Award
Pass the C-ONQS examination. Certification is effective on the date of the official NCC passed-score report, not the examination date; this is an individual award date, not an established commencement date for the credential program.
Eligibility
At application, current/active/unencumbered US or Canadian licensure as a physician (MD/DO), registered nurse, APRN (NP, CNS or CNM), certified midwife, physician assistant, licensed social worker or respiratory therapist is required. Upload license/verification identifying name, license number, state/province, license type and expiry. No practice experience is required; expertise in obstetric/neonatal quality improvement and safety is recommended. No separate education credential is listed for this subspecialty; this does not replace the applicant's professional licensure requirements.
Scope
Only initial certification by examination is investigated; professional licensure, maintenance and other NCC specialties are not additional examinations in this route.
