Certified Ethical Hacker

EC-Council certification of individuals in vendor-neutral ethical hacking, earned by eligible candidates passing the proctored CEH knowledge examination.

Licensing authority: EC-Council · Application information

Initial by examination
Agreements And Minors
Before attempting the exam, candidates must accept the Non-Disclosure Agreement and Certification Agreement. Minors require parent or legal-guardian written consent/indemnity and a supporting letter from a nationally accredited learning institution.
Applicability
The current certification page links the downloaded handbook (request v7.1 redirects to actual v7.3, issued September 21, 2026) and standalone blueprint v5.0. Handbook Appendix A explicitly makes blueprint v5.0 effective April 10, 2024. No official end date or credential/route inception date was established; these boundaries remain null.
Approval And Voucher
Eligibility approvals last 90 days; candidates have 12 months after voucher purchase to schedule and complete the examination. Direct applicants must use the voucher linked to their eligibility application. Pearson scheduling requires the eligibility number.
Credential Boundary
Passing the proctored CEH knowledge examination grants CEH. CEH Practical is a separate assessment; holding both produces the related CEH Master designation and is not required for this CEH credential.
Eligibility
Initial applicants either complete official EC-Council training through an authorized training center, official online learning or an approved academic institution, or obtain eligibility approval based on verifiable proof of at least two years of Information Security work experience, a completed eligibility application and the non-refundable USD100 application fee. Training and experience are alternative eligibility paths to the same required examination.
Legacy Eligibility
The current page also recognizes CEH versions 1-7 holders and the application-fee waiver; this is an eligibility condition, not a second examination or an initial-applicant prerequisite.
Scheduling
Pearson appointments may be made in advance or on the test day, subject to availability. Remote-proctored sessions should be booked at least three days ahead; these are different delivery-channel booking conditions.
