Pass
Pass the current CWIDP exam; the official FAQ gives a minimum passing score of 70%.
Prerequisite
Hold a valid CWISA certification. The official FAQ directs candidates to complete CWISA before taking CWIDP and states that no professional certificate is issued until the prerequisite certification is completed, including when a professional exam has already been completed.
Remote Conditions
A valid government-issued ID must match the CWNP account. Request and obtain CWNP approval for testing accommodations before scheduling. Remote appointment changes require two full business days' notice, subject to the documented emergency exception and fees.
Scheduling
Purchase a current exam voucher and book an appointment through Prometric or the officially offered CWNP in-house remote proctoring channel. The voucher allows one attempt and is valid for two years from purchase. Have the order number or voucher code ready for CWNP remote scheduling.
Scope
The already-required CWISA credential is an eligibility condition; its separate examination is excluded from new research and production by this task boundary.
Training
Classes are recommended but are not required; self-study is permitted.

  • Assess an Existing IoT Solution (10%)
    • Evaluate an existing IoT implementation and understand its impact on a new wireless IoT deployment
    • Use appropriate tools to analyze existing IoT implementations
    • Gather system documentation for the existing IoT solution
    • Evaluate operational parameters
    • Document findings for use in the design of the new wireless IoT solution
  • Gather and Define Requirements and Constraints (30%)
    • Gather business requirements and constraints
    • Gather technical requirements and constraints
  • Design a Wireless IoT Solution to Meet Requirements (40%)
    • Design for selected topologies
    • Design for appropriate channel configuration
    • Design based on RF requirements and capabilities
    • Explain and use wireless IoT tools to create and validate the design
    • Produce or recommend designs and configuration parameters for the IoT-related network infrastructure requirements
    • Produce design documentation
  • Validate and Optimize the Wireless IoT Solution (20%)
    • Validate that the RF requirements are met by the solution
    • Validate the IoT solution is functioning as defined in the solution requirements
    • Recommend and/or perform appropriate corrective actions as needed based on validation results for RF requirements and IoT solution functionality requirements
    • Create a validation and test report including solution documentation and asset inventory information
    • Final meeting (Q&A and hand-off)
