Public Adjuster License
Individual public-adjuster licensure for representation of insureds in first-party commercial property claims. Company and independent adjusters represent insurers, rather than insureds under this licence. Residential public adjusting is outside the Public Adjusters Licensing Act, as explained in Attorney General Opinion 2025-22. The survey treats resident and nonresident issuance as routes to this public-adjuster licence; it does not register an insurance-sales credential or a separate company or independent claims-adjuster credential.

- Statutory Retakes

- Submit the appropriate uniform application or another application prescribed by the commissioner; certify that its statements are true, correct and complete under penalty of perjury and licence consequences (K.S.A. 40-5504).
- Application Fee
- Pay the application fee required by the commissioner, not exceeding $100; the current public-adjuster instructions state a nonrefundable $100 application fee.

- Commissioner Rehabilitation Review
- The commissioner considers present moral fitness; consciousness of wrongful conduct; rehabilitation; original seriousness; subsequent conduct; elapsed time; character, maturity and experience at revocation; and present insurance competence and skills under 40-5510(d)(2).
- Conflicting Faq Retakes
- The lower-ranked Department Licensing FAQ, under How often can I retake the exam if I fail?, states: "There are no limitations on retaking the exam; however, there is a seven-day waiting period before another exam attempt can be made." The requirement follows K.S.A. 40-5506(c).

- Statutory Retakes
- K.S.A. 40-5506(c) requires at least seven days after the first and second failed attempts, then at least six months after the third failed attempt; after at least two years following the third examination the applicant is treated as a new applicant.
