Attempts
Complete certification within 12 months of the first exam; at most six QCI attempts per one-year period beginning with the first unsuccessful attempt; candidates failing to achieve certification must wait for that attempt's one-year anniversary.
Award
Pass the QCI multiple-choice written exam and satisfy prerequisites. The micro-credential expires five years after initial certification and is deactivated if the prerequisite EA certification expires, is deactivated or revoked; reactivation follows EA reissuance only through the original QCI expiry.
Language
Only the English online written examination is in this task. Language-support accommodations require an application and interpreter conflict/disclosure form preapproved by BPI; these do not create a separate examination identity.
Prerequisite
Hold active BPI Energy Auditor Certification; provide proof to the BPI Test Center at scheduling; prerequisites must be submitted and approved before the QCI exam. This is a prior credential qualification, not an additional QCI exam leaf; no EA examination facts or identity are recreated.
Scheduling
Arrange the examination and locally set fee with a BPI Test Center; bring matching valid photo ID; accept the BPI Certification Agreement before the exam.
Scope
The current QCI granting policy identifies this one QCI written exam. No QCI practical/oral or additional independent knowledge exam is required by that policy; prerequisite certification is preserved as a qualification.

Specific training is not required by BPI.
