Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements

Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.

Building Analyst Professional

Licensing authority: Building Performance Institute, Inc.

Initial by examination
Candidate Agreement
Accept the Candidate Certification Agreement before taking the examination, pay applicable fees and comply with the Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics.
Completion And Retakes
Complete certification within 12 months from the first examination; up to six BA-P online attempts within the year beginning with the first unsuccessful attempt, then wait until its one-year anniversary.
Page Wording
The current promotional page includes Take your field exam in its general steps. Its own written-exam description, the current scheme sections 4-5 and 10, and the explicit BA-P FAQ distinguish the BA-T prerequisite practical certification from the BA-P written examination; no additional BA-P field examination is identified.
Prerequisite
Hold active BPI Building Analyst Technician Certification (BA-T) before taking the BA-P examination and maintain it concurrently. BA-T is the prerequisite practical certification, not a separate BA-P field-examination leaf; its existing identity is not re-created or produced here.
Prerequisite Background
The BA-T field examination includes oral questions and has the Building Science Principles certificate as a prerequisite; these are prerequisite-award requirements, not additional BA-P bank subjects.
Scheduling
Arrange fees and appointment with a BPI Test Center; present valid non-military government-issued photo ID with the registration name.
Scope
Only initial certification by the English knowledge examination is delivered. Renewal, active-EA administrative award and retired BA/EP transition routes are outside the requested pathway.
Training
BPI requires no specific training; prerequisite criteria remain mandatory.
