Reinstatement of inactive license using an original application
- Application
- Submit a notarized application, required privilege tax, a recent full-face color photograph and fingerprints taken by MID; fingerprints support state and federal criminal-history checks.
- Application Fee
- The license application fee is $40 for each soliciting or enforcement license.
- Course Assessment
- The September 2012 instructions state: "An examination is given at the end of the 40-hour pre-licensing course." This is part of education completion; the instructions identify no separately registered course examination.
- Dated Statutory Evidence
- Requirements use the obtained official 2018 reenactment and other dated official statutory texts. The current official Lexis codified chapter was not obtained: its title index loaded, but chapter expansion failed; server-side access returned an empty shell.
- Disqualifying Crimes
- A license cannot be issued or renewed after a conviction the commissioner finds directly related to bail-agent duties, including fraud, dishonesty, breach of trust or money laundering.
- Employing Professional
- The employing professional bail agent signs the application and accepts supervision responsibility. A soliciting agent works only for one professional agent; an enforcement agent needs a separate license for each employing professional agent.
- Excluded Employment
- Law-enforcement officials, judicial officials, attorneys and persons employed in a jail or corrections facility holding inmates eligible for bail are ineligible.
- Handbook Score Window
- The July 2025 Candidate Handbook states: "Pass the required examination(s) within two years of license application for the type of license you are seeking (see chart on page 4); and". The statute permits one successful completion; the handbook timing instruction is retained as MID implementation information.
- Individual Applicant
- The license is issued only to an individual; the applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- One Time Licensing Examination
- 83-39-3(7)(b) states that an applicant need successfully complete the department examination only once. Prior successful completion may excuse another sitting.
- Prelicensing Education
- Complete 40 hours of MID-approved prelicensing education, subject to the statutory exemption for compliant licensees licensed on July 1, 2014, and applicants properly licensed within 90 days who meet continuing-education requirements.
- Prior License
- An inactive license in this category; MID directs a first-time paper application for reinstatement.
- Recognition Acts
- This survey reads the privilege-license exclusion in 73-50-1(2)(a) and 73-50-2(2)(a), with the bail privilege license named in 83-39-3(6) and MID privilege-tax application instructions, as excluding these bail privilege licenses from those general recognition acts. The specific bail nonresident route in 83-39-3(10) is retained.
Cross category issuance to a currently licensed enforcement agent
- Application
- Submit the notarized application, employing professional endorsement, photograph, required fingerprints and $40 privilege tax.
- Education Exemption
- The implementing instructions waive prelicensing education when the existing license remained in effect without adverse action and all intervening continuing-education requirements were met.
- Examination Exemption
- 83-39-3(7)(b) expressly exempts this cross-category application from the department examination.
- Existing License
- Currently licensed as a enforcement bail agent, applying for the other category.

- Residency
- Nonresident applicant: the home state must license Mississippi residents on the same basis, and all Chapter 39 requirements must be satisfied. The application attests to home-state licensure in good standing; another state examination is not a Mississippi examination requirement leaf.

- Application Fee
- Pay the renewal fee: $100 for a professional license; $40 for soliciting or enforcement.

- Provide the renewal information attachment, including the preceding five years of residence and spouse information; professional agents state their principal-office address.
- Senior Exemption
