Accommodations
Request documented-disability accommodations before scheduling each examination; Pearson VUE coordinates them individually. Non-native English speakers may request ESL +30 before registration, once for future registrations.
Age
At least 13 years old when scheduling. Ages 13–17 require parent/legal-guardian consent, an account in the teen's name created by the guardian, a guardian-opened customer-service case and completed consent form. Schedule only after AWS approval, normally notified in approximately 5–7 business days. The named guardian accompanies the candidate to the center, supplies matching government ID and the consent copy, and signs the log; the teen supplies photo ID (school ID allowed). Repeat the consent process for each exam.
Agreements
Accept the AWS Certification Program Agreement at registration and before testing, and Pearson VUE terms when scheduling.
Applicability
Current official certification and guide pages actively identify DEA-C01. Guide revision 1.1 was published December 12, 2025; the guide says revisions precede exam updates by approximately one month. Current adopted content supports evaluation on 2026-10-25; no exact official version effective/retirement boundary is published in these materials, so calendar validity fields remain null.
Changes
Reschedule up to 24 hours before the appointment, at most twice per appointment; a third change requires cancellation and a new booking. Cancellation requires at least 24 hours' notice. Within 24 hours, cancellation/rescheduling is unavailable and the delivery fee is charged; documented illness/emergencies may receive a fee waiver and rescheduling through Pearson VUE. No-show forfeits the fee. After a missed appointment, registration for the exam is unavailable until 24 hours after the missed exam time; missing the exam does not result in a fail status.

Credential Validity
The awarded certification is valid for three years; this describes each award and supplies no calendar validFrom or validThrough for the credential definition. Recertification is outside this initial-route investigation.
Identification
Comply with applicable online/in-person identification requirements. AWS requires government-issued identification establishing residence in a non-sanctioned country; when the testing-country ID requirement is not met (subject to the EU-ID exception), an international passport is primary ID and secondary ID is also required. The published teen identification process applies to minors.
Qualification
Initial award requires passing the currently adopted DEA-C01 examination. The current official certification page links this guide. No prerequisite certification, training or experience is mandatory; the target 2–3 years of data engineering/data architecture and 1–2 years of AWS experience are recommendations.
Retakes
After failing, wait 14 calendar days before another attempt and pay the full registration fee; attempts are not numerically limited.
Scheduling
Rolling appointments through an AWS Certification Account and Pearson VUE; testing-center availability varies. Online proctoring supports English 24/7, requires a suitable private testing environment and communication with a proctor. Choose a date, time and delivery option and review confirmation terms.
