Licenses, application pathways and examination requirements
Each license and applicant pathway has its own requirements and exemptions. Choosing practice questions does not determine your eligibility.
Autodesk Inventor Certified User
Inventor-specific entry-level Autodesk software certification validating foundational design knowledge and skills through a proctored Certiport examination.
Licensing authority: Autodesk
Initial by examination
- Account And Identity
- Create a Certiport candidate account; the official award requires a proctored Inventor exam with identity verification at a CATC. In-person candidates present photo/signature ID; under-18 candidates provide parental consent. NDA and applicable retake/candidate policies apply.
- Applicability
- Current materials were checked on 2026-10-28. No official initial effective date or Inventor exam retirement date is stated, so date boundaries remain null; 2024 software-support retirement does not establish examination cessation.
- Delivery
- Arrange an actual seat with a CATC or enrolled school/college; independent centers may charge separate proctor fees. Native Compass for Windows LITA requires compatible installed Inventor, active licensing and Autodesk sign-in, and supported Compass/software setup. Cloud delivery is also listed; native local-install procedures are not imposed on every remote candidate.
- English Administration Choices
- Current adopted objectives explicitly cover Imperial | Metric; current English Next Generation catalogue includes supported software suites and 2027 Imperial and Metric. Select the unit/software administration supported by the actual center, without requiring both unit systems to be passed or creating another software award.
- Experience
- Acquire real-world Inventor experience. Approximately 150 hours describes the target candidate; it is not converted into a new certified-hours threshold.
- Knowledge Prerequisites
- ["Basic computer skills and digital literacy","Standard industry terminology","Concepts associated with general technical drawing and design","Accessing online and written reference materials, including help screens within Inventor","Application options and document settings"]
- Remote
- Inventor live rows list Compass Cloud and Exam from Home; the public U.S. remote-proctor partner service is limited to candidates at least 18 years old located in the U.S. Partner/center arrangements and actual seats are required; no daily home or horizon-wide appointment guarantee is asserted.
- Training
- Complete an Inventor training course OR self-study training; no particular vendor course purchase is imposed.
Autodesk Certified User: Inventor
- Provider
- Certiport, Autodesk's examination delivery partner
- Format
- English Next Generation computer-delivered questions with Live-in-the-Application Inventor tasks, preserving actual software operation and conceptual/applied knowledge; Imperial/Metric and supported software suites are administration choices for this award.
- Exam questions
- Total questions: 30–35.
- Time limit
- 50 minutes
- Passing score
- Passing value equated to 700 on Certiport's 1 to 1000 scaled-score scale, not a raw percentage.
